I got arrested just for standing next to a friend who is a dealer. I didn't know he was carrying drugs, but the cops called me a "lookout," even though I didn't do anything. What do I do?
This is an old game for the police. Anyone they think might have been involved but who didn't actually "DO" anything is suddenly a lookout. All it needs is a person with a neck and two eyes. If he turns his head with his eyes open, he is "looking out" for police. Your defense here is your good record and getting your side of it to the prosecutor early, hopefully before they even file charges against you. Get your lawyer to put together a package showing your employment, good record, even good grades in school, and references from pastor, cop friends, doctor, etc. It can't hurt, and if it works, you never get charged at all. |
