Process for Expunging/Clearing Juvenile Criminal Records in Indiana

The expungement request for juvenile arrest or conviction records in Indiana must be made to the juvenile court that handled the case. Only those juveniles who were found to be delinquent children, or children in need of [state] services, are eligible for expungement.

The court will consider many factors including the disposition of the adjudication (if there was one), the amount of time that has passed since the juvenile's last contact with the court system, etc. If the expungement is granted, juvenile court, any law enforcement agency holding on to records, and any people or entities that provided any related services, will be ordered to send all of their records to the court, where they will be either destroyed or given to the person requesting the expungement.
