I was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana while at a party. The judge suspended my license for six months. How can he do that when I wasn't driving?
In some states, the legislatures have passed statutes that provide for the suspension of driving privileges whenever anyone is convicted of a drug related offense. This is true whether or not the person was operating a motor vehicle at the time of the offense. However, sometimes such laws also provide for the issuance of a restricted permit for work and other certain necessities.
