I was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana while at a party. When I went to court the judge suspended my license for six months. How can he do this when I wasn’t driving at the time?
In Virginia the law provides for the suspension of driving privileges for six months whenever anyone is convicted of a drug related offense. This is true whether or not the person was operating a motor vehicle at the time of the offense. The law also provides for the issuance of a restricted permit for work and other certain necessities.
