Can a probation officer release me from juvenile hall before charges are filed in juvenile court?
Yes. Most juvenile halls have duty supervisors who have the discretion to release a minor to his or her parents pending the first appearance in court. For the more serious offenses, it is unlikely a minor would be released before going to court. That Probation Officer can also testify against you later and repeat what you told him or her.
