When is parole effective?
Again, the laws of the states differ, but for the most part, the restrictions imposed by the parole board and the recommendations of the sentencing trial court, if accepted by the parole board, must be communicated to the convict prior to physical release from confinement. The convict may reject or accept those conditions. Parole is effective when the convict accepts the conditions attached to the parole and signs a statement to that effect.
