I am on supervised probation for assault with a firearm. I have a chance at a great job, but it's in another state. My probation officer says to forget it. Is there no hope?
Perhaps. You'll need a lawyer to help you. Some states have reciprocal probation supervision agreements with other states. Some don't. Get your lawyer to file a motion to modify your probation and ask the judge to agree to out of state supervision. Your lawyer will also have to get the other state to agree to accept you, but it is possible. Most likely the judge will not just allow you to go to unsupervised probation with your particular conviction.
