I am on probation and have obeyed all the rules. My probation officer let me phone in my "reports," but she quit and moved away and the new guy wants to violate me for "not reporting." What do I do?
This is a problem that arises more often than is thought. I suggest you get a lawyer and that he or she try to find the probation officer who let you report orally. The problem is that "relaxed" probation officers often don't record those "oral reports" in your file, so the record looks to others like you have had no contact with the probation officer ever since your conviction. One suggestion: send the P.O. a letter each month verifying the phone report.
