What are typical examples of probation conditions?
Serving some time in jail is a frequent probation condition. If you violate probation and are re-sentenced, you get credit for that time already served. Paying restitution to the victim of the crime is a very routine condition. Attending educational classes or programs such as drinking driver's programs, anger management, alcohol or drug counseling; or even parenting classes are tailored to the specific offense. Others include paying a fine; obeying all laws; staying away from the victim; or avoid certain neighborhoods or intersections (common in drug dealing cases). Of course, supervised probation involves monthly reporting to the probation officer. Court probation is unsupervised, but if any violation of probation conditions or a new crime occur during probation, a motion to revoke probation will be filed.
