Is it larceny if I intend to return the property?

In many states, taking another’s property without permission to use it temporarily and then to return it within a reasonable time is not larceny. Intending to permanently deprive an owner of the property is larceny. However, if you took the property without permission and got arrested in possession of it before returning it, expect the police not to believe you.
